Guest Designer

I had the honor of being the Guest Team Designer for Child's Play Challenges this month.  They always have fun innovative challenges for children's layouts.  I selected to do a layout with one of this months challenges on classic movies: "Mary Poppins".  My sister and I had visited the "big apple" a couple of years ago and we went to see the Broadway production of "Mary Poppins".  It was awesome.  So here is the layout I did with this theme in mind.

Still digging in my reserves to pull rabbits out of my hat!  lol  8}  Hubby and I went to Disney World for an AT&T Pioneer convention a few years back.  We had such a grand time.  We both love gardens and I believe the British one was our favorite.

This is the book page element I create for the Scrap 4 help challenge.  I had a piece of chipboard in the shape of a bird so I  traced it out, cut around it on a piece of dictionary paper.
I tucked a long strand of blue angora yarn around the flowers to give it more texture.
I wanted the flowers and leaves to be more life like so I gently folded the edges for the dimensional look.

You can't go to a garden without finding butterflies!  I used a punch randomly of the green paper for that element of surprise.

I am entering this layout in the following challenges:  Use  "book pages"  for the color pallet  for color pallet.  For travel

Mt. Vernon bliss

What a wonderful day this was.  My son had just completed his induction into the Foreign Service.  My mother and I were invited to the ceremony and spent a long weekend with my son before he was leave for his first assignment in Ireland.  We decided to forgo D.C. and travel a bit further out and visit the beautiful Mt. Vernon estate.

I am entering this into two challenges:

Sad and happy

Graphic 45 announced today the top 30 finalists for their DT 2013.  I am sad that I did not make that list.  However, God is good and sent some cheer my way.  Graphic 45 picked my layout as their March challenge winner!!  (Little Darlings)  So they are sending me lots of goodies to build new layouts.  Yeah!!!  Also, featured My 3 peeps in their daily newsletter.

I hope your day is as blessed as mine.  :-)

My 3 peeps

My 3 peeps
I had such fun putting this layout together.  I had done the picture in an egg years ago but it just didn't work for the page I original made.  This picture was taken nearly 30 years ago so it is a bit on the dark side.  But the memories are still all there.

I experimented with gesso and bubble wrap to create a bit of cloud texturing by the butterfly.  The butterfly is loaded with glitter and the eggs are blinged out.  So lots of sparkle and shine to be found on this layout!

Thank you for stopping by and taking a peek at what's happening at talking papers.  You are awesome.  Have a great day.

My 3 Peeps was featured at on April 4!
