Guest designer at ARTastic!

May challenge:  The art of using stencils and masks.

I have the honor of being the guest designer over at ARTastic this month.
This was my first time using stencils and masks so I choose to be forgiving and did just a small area.  I have to say it was rather fun.  So without further ado I present to you  "Perfect day".

This is a picture of my daughter showing the difference of today's camera with those of yester year.  We had a grand time exploring the east coast of Ireland.  Here we just got off the train at Bray on our way to Powers court.  The mosaics on the wall were incredible!
This is my first try at stencil/masking with this lovely color grey paint.
I used lots of layering with patterned papers, lace, flowers, ribbons and acrylic stickers.
Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to take a peek.  You are awesome!

Princess and the pea

I started this layout with several challenges in mind.  We go to the Dallas Arboretum several times a year.  Last year they had a princess and the pea house.  I scooped Eloise up and put her in the princess bed.  So here is my homage to this fairy tale and I hope you like it.

I started the layout on the back side of this lovely paper by Prima Marketing.  Then it all went terribly wrong when I made an attempt to do some masking.  So I flipped the paper over used some Graphic 45 Bird Song paper as a border and this is the result. It turned out a little fussier than I planned.

There is a new kid on the block for scrape book challenges.  Scrap Around the World.  This month is there first challenge for everyone to tryout.  I hope you do.

This is there mood board and sketch.  This is my interpretation.

As you can see I used far more than three patterned papers and a rubon for the Scrap our Stash Challenge.  The other papers were scraps in my stash and I do not remember who made them.

The Scrap Africa challenge was to use chipboard.  There are several scattered around the page!

Zeus and Zoe for the mood board.
Thank you for joining me in fairyland today!  It is always a delight to see you and welcome you into my realm.  Here's wishing you a magical day.

I will be entering this layout into the following challenges.

2 Pieces of my heart

                                                                 2 Pieces of my heart

I am sure my heart would die and fade away should anything ever happen to these two pieces of my heart.  They had just received these dresses from their German Oma for their birthdays both of which come in May.

2 Pieces of my heart

I just love adding pieces of whimsy in my layouts.  Here we have a fun teapot die cut.

Notice the two heart pieces on the top and bottom corners of the page.  I painted gesso on them then did a subtle inking with pink and blue.  Then I glued butcher's twine on the outer edges.
I added yellow element around the page to get your eyes to wander from point a to z.

Thank you for stopping by and seeing what the papers are saying today.  You are awesome and soooo appreciated by this blogger.  See you soon.

I will be entering this layout into the following challenges:

I will cherish u always

                                          I WILL CHERISH  U ALWAYS

May 12th daily featured layout at Scrapbook.com

I can't believe my babies are all grown up.  My youngest, Katie, was given  a photo session to show off her new teeth after years of wearing braces.  As it happened it was also, Frauke's graduation year.  My son, Brendan, flew in to celebrate.

I will cherish u always

I took these chipboard pieces gesso them and then inked them afterwards to give an earthy feel.  The fairies received a sprinkling of glitter to their wings.  Cheese clothe is inked and tucked up under the frame.
This view gives you a better feel for the dimensional feel I was going for.
I purchased this cherish u plate many, many years ago!  I distressed it with some brown ink to fit more sedately with the rest of the page.  This element is for the "all things become new" challenge over at Scrapping everyday Miracles.  The fairies I just acquired this month.  So, here is the old and new.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a peek.  You are awesome!  Come back again soon.

Katie @ 4

Oh the 90's when you slapped big bows on little girls heads and after having them sleep in cush rollers over night to get the perfect curls.  We thought they looked soooo sweet that way.  lol   My daughter was not amused and would walk around with a huge pout on her face and arms folded tightly crossed her chest in protest.

Scrap Friends is running a color pallet challenge this month of July.
Katie @ 4
I think I am slowly getting the masking technique down now.  I just love the brick wall design.  I also did a bit of stamping in the upper right hand corner. For the SWAT challenge you will find buttons, ribbon and chipboard which is their diagonal grid.
Each child is unique.  I added the hot air balloon as something unexpected yet fits her personality.  Her teachers always thought she was a bit flighty.  She is now studying to become Physician Assistant.  The lovely blossoms are stickled to show off her sparkling personality.

Look at all those layers!!

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to stop by and see what the papers are saying today.  You are awesome!

Come out and play

Come out and play
It's May, the lovely month of May.  Flowers are more abundant and vibrant.  The weather has turned warmer, at least here in the south it has, and everyone is eager to go out and play!
A special thanks to Windy at ZVA for the lovely card she sent me wrapped with this pink netting that I used above the green flower. She also does some wonderfully creative projects over at ZVA so go check out their blog.
For quite a few of you, you know that this year I am pulling my projects together almost totally from my challenge wins and old stash.  That is my challenge for the year.  The bling I used on this layout is from my win with ZVA.  Isn't it gorgeous!
From my stash I use these die cuts from K&Company (Sweet Nectar). I also used dylusions white linen ink spray on the gingham paper which my sister says gives it a fabric look.
I had a lot of fun putting this layout together and am tickled you stopped by to come out and play.  Hope to see you again soon.  You are awesome!!

Scrap Much? sketc-y Friday  I turned the sketch around.
