Frosted Designs DT announcement!

It's official!!     I am a new Design Team member for FROSTED DESIGNS!

I am super excited and so very honored.  This is my first layout for the weekly challenges, "What Direction".

Show direction....as easy as using arrows, or more challenging to use words or anything else that indicates direction.     Word ideas: East, South, Under, Over, Up, Down.

I took this picture of my daughter at the Royal Mews in London during our recent trip there.  Despite the fact that she is allergic to horses they have always been considered her friends.  No matter where she travels whether it be north, east, south or west she will always be able to find a four hooves friend.

I dove into my stash and found this 8x8 Graphic 45 Typography pad with only two sheets of paper remaining and bits and pieces from other sheets. After layering the the bits I used a 12x12 clock stencil and using texture paste I added partial clocks along the strips.  Then I came back and outlined the numbers.
The chipboard pieces were give a large dose of black embossing powder.  Finally I spritzed color all around and adding mica chips.  The black thread shows direction and movement.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have been inspired!

                "Busted"  (Creative Embellishments DT)

Hi Everyone Kathleen here with some new inspiration for you.  Hope the New Year is treating you well so far.  I recently took some photos of my new puppy.  She is a terror!  Nothing is safe from her.  Nothing!! But who could resist those eyes!   So, I thought this layout would be a fitting tribute to all puppies out there.

I used several Graphic 45 paper collections for this one.    It fun to combine collections and it stretches the budget too!  There is also snippets of papers hiding so long in my stash the name no longer exists.  lol.  The background was created using two stencils, dots and water splashes, using ShimmerzsDazzelerz.s in Barely Blue and Red-iculous.  In the upper right hand corner I use a fabulous stencil from Paper Wings Production using the Red-liculous.  Using water colors I dripped dark blue and orange in between the stencil art.  I topped it off with a sprinkling of blue crushed glass and cream colored pearls.

Creative Embellishments have these wonderful 6x6 chipboard panels you can cut apart, paint and use with so many treatments.  I used the Chevron Panel and the Fish net panel using a liberal dose of black ink  and light dusting of black embossing powder.

The camera is from a set.  I inked it as well and put a piece of bling in the center.

Thank you for stopping by today.

                 "Celebrate"  (Creative Embellishments DT)

Greetings all you CE fans I hope you are enjoying this winter weather.  It certainly has inspired me while creating this winter themed layout.  I will tell you a little secret, this is a picture of my grand parents (they are seated) on their wedding day which just happens to be in May.  lol

I just adore these soft cool colors of the Pion Design papers.  Looking at the birds on the tree branches I knew just the right CE chippies I wanted to use.  This Twig Frame with Fall was perfect to compliment the outdoor feel of this layout.  I gave it a gentle coat of Knotted Wood brown ink.  Next I  dabbed some  Shimmerz Barely Blue Dazzelerz  on my finger and randomly touched the branches.  Next I dabbed some white gesso and again randomly applied it to the branches for nice wintery look.  Lastly I dabbed a paint brush into some Golden gel medium then applied some Stampendous Mica flakes for added texture and sparkle.  I repeated this procedure on the the Berry Branches and word celebrate from the Celebrate Word Set.

I cut the wreath to fit the picture and used the leftovers as filler in the floral arrangement.

Here are some more close ups.  The flowers were tipped with gesso and Baby Blue Dazzler.

I used used the Distress Crackle stamp on the stripped paper giving it a more aged appearance.

The Mica chips look like the remains of dead leaves on the branches.

I used silver Mica chips on the paper branches which give them such sparkle!

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you have been inspired.  Have a fun creative weekend!

                                 "Flying in to say hi"

This month over at The Aviary they are have a fun link up party instead of the usual blog hop.  Such fun!!  I chose to make a tag using some of my favorite stamps from their store.

I first used a stencil to create texture to my tag followed by spraying two tones of blue paint.  Once that dried I used two of  The Owl Panel Clear Stamp set  pieces using green ink.  Next I layered a piece of corrugated cardboard and topped that with a piece of 7 Dots paper.  My final layer I used this beautiful clip art from the The Fall Nesting Components Mixed Media Kit.   My sentiment came from The Fall Add ons Clear Stamp Set.  I hope you will also join in on this challenge!

                 "With Love" (Creative Embellishment DT)

Happy New Years everybody!  I am so happy to present my first layout for 2015, "With Love".  I was inspired by the warm soft flow of the inspiration photo.  I created texture on the tag by using a stencil and molding paste.  The gorgeous chipboard pieces(Birds  With Love  Ornate Hanging Sign  Window Shutters 2 )were given a light coat of brown ink topped with golden glaze and finally dusted with a softer shade of brown.  The Ivy Spray was very gently brushed with green ink.  I hope this has inspired you to take your creativity to new heights this year!

It’s a new month and for January's challenge at Creative Embellishment all you need to do is be inspired by the picture above and use some sort of texture paste/medium on your project such as gesso, modeling paste, opaque or pumice etc. Anything that will give it a little texture.
Please be sure to check the guidelines for our challenges.
Close ups high lighting the different types of textures I used in this layout.  Above I used dry wall tape to give added texture to the layout.  Pion Designs created these gorgeous Victorian style papers.  I simply adore working with them.  They make layering a breeze.
