 "Sugar"

Kathleen here to share this layout with you .When I think of London England I think of royalty.  So when I saw these papers from the Robin's Nest I knew I could finally make a layout of my time in London!  I love the silver castles on the grey background.  Perfect for my out fit of the day! lol!

The first thing to do was gather and cut strips of paper for my frame.  Then I staple the together.  I know, I know the picture above is not the same one as the finished layout.  It just wasn't the best one for the project!

Time for some texture via a clock stencil and texture paste then stamping with various style stamps.  Then add some color with paints and mists.

I add more interest by taking some string and wrapping it a few time around the paper.  Tie it with a bow and you have some sweetness goin' on!  lol.  I finished up by adding some cut outs and these extraordinary    From the Robin's Nest

A close up of the finished project.

Blog Hop

Christmas Balloon

Kathleen here with a fun and whimsical table top decoration to share with you.  Robin's Nest gals are hopping with Smoothfoam today.

For the base of this project I used a 6" Smoothfoam disk.  I cut out a 6" circle from the remains of Robin's Nest Cindy Lou Dot Glitter cardstock and glued it in place on top of the disk.  The sides used 2 stripes of 8"x1" width Robin's Nest Cindy Lou Presents cardstock.
over lapped and glued in place.  A lace doily was placed underneath and glued.
 Basket
cut a 8 1/2" x 2 1/2" strip of paper
score 1/2 from the top length wise and 1/2" from the bottom
score every 2" width wise with a 1/2 tab at the end
Cut the fold from the top and bottom scores

A straw was used to support the basket to the balloon.

I hope this project has inspired you to let your own creativity take flight.  Enjoy the Robin's Nest/Smoothfoam hop!

My Joy

My Joy

It's Friday with a whole weekend ahead to create!  Here is a layout to inspire you to pull out those wonderful Helmar products and see where they take you!  Kathleen here to share how I created this layout.

This layout is all about layering.
12x12 Beach Towel Stripe paper (cut out a 9x9 square from the back)
11x11" Hello Sunshine paper (Use Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue to adhere the first two paper together as shown above).
9x9" reverse side of Beach Towel Stripe paper (glue it off center on top of the last paper).
6x12" Beach Party paper (glue this paper 1 1/2" from the right hand side).

Select and cut out various 4x6" cards and arrange them in layers behind the picture.
To the left hand side I used a doily for added texture and interest.
I used two straws of different colors and cut them in graduating sizes then glued them in place with Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue.  I get a lot of mileage from this glue.  It offers a bit of wiggle room time after placing my element to the paper.  Once everything is in place and glued I can rely on Helmar that it will stand the test of time!

I placed the photo on a piece of corrugated cardboard to give it height using Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue.  With this glue I am sure that it will not yellow my picture over time.
Now to finish our fun and summery layout with loads of flowers and cardstock sticker!  Always adhere them with Helmar Glue!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope what you have seen inspires you to create!  And remember to include Helmar Products!

Chattering Robin's Design Team

I am incredibly delighted to have been asked to join the Robin's Nest Design Team!

This month the chatter is all about adventure!  As a child of two working parents we very seldom went anywhere.  Vacations were very rare.  Fortunately for me I was a avid reader and my summer adventures were as close as an opened book.

The first time I saw this paper (Honeycomb Fleur) an adventure formed in my mind.  This is a beautiful flowing monochromatic designed paper of excellent weight.  I used Brown on Brown Glitter card stock to frame the layout.  This card stock has flecks of coppery glitter that just doesn't photography well.  I hate to waste the entire paper since all we see is an edge so I cut out the middle to save for another project later.

I cut 1/8 of an inch off of all sides of the Fleur Honeycomb paper and applied textured paste to two different stencils still keeping to the monochromatic theme. Then I glued it on top of the card stock.   I will come back later and apply some paints to give the designs more depth.

Now that the base of the layout is complete I start to build up the layout.  I stamped a piece of 6x6 brown card stock with  shabby tote ink and on a brick stamp.  I cut a 6x3 inch piece of drywall tape and placed it underneath the brick wall which I cut out a few bricks for interest.  Next layer center I tore a 6x6 blue card stock paper to match the tear on my photo which I glued to a piece of cardboard to give it height.  To the right nuzzled under the photo is a lovely filigreed chipboard gate.

Next layer!
Layers build interest to your layouts!  It also helps to tell the story of your photo.
This is where I start digging into my stash.  Cheese clothe cut into strips and tugged at to cause separation and long strings.  I start laying it down all across the layout.  Tucking some under the brick wall where I used a few pop dots to lift it.

The frog and clock resins were tipped with gold paint.
Take a close look and you will see these gorgeous Robin's Nest Shimmer Diamond Dew Drops .  I love, love , love these gems.  They are subtle shapes of interest that blend right into your design.  I love how they capture the light and sparkle!

Robin's Nest Time Flies Rubons are so easy to use and add the perfect accent to your project!

For the ivy sprigs I began with a top coat of shabby tote ink followed by a layer of Shimmerz inklinz miner, miner 49.  Once the first steps are completely dry I come back and apply a darker shade of gold at the base of the leaves and allow this to dry.  Next I add color with some green moss lawn ink.  Finally, taking a fine paint brush I come back with Shimmerz Chocolate Brownie paint and paint along the veins of the leaves.

For the chipboard word I used hydrangea blue embossing powder.

Yes, you have guessed correctly if you thought of Harry Potter heading to platform 9 3/4 !  Have you spotted the Neville's frog and the flying key or the shifting bricks allowing you to enter Diagon Alley.
I hope this has inspired you to let your own creativity take flight!

Summer time at the beach in the north east.  I think we where in Massachusetts.  We wanted to take our new puppy, a Boston Terrier, to see her homeland!  Seriously who does that!  lol.  From Boston we travel over to the beach and the girls tried to teach the pup how to swim.  She didn't like it at all!

It's the fourth of July weekend so of course I just had to do a red, white and blue layout!  Graphic 45 By the Sea collection was the perfect choice of paper design.  I used a polka dot stencil to add texture.  Next I put some gesso on a stamp and randomly stamped around the center of the page.  It make it look like sea foam from the waves crashing to shore.  Then I came back with another stamp again with gesso then topped with Lindy's Stamp Gang Hydrangea Blue and then again with Lindy's Stamp Gang Ocean Breeze Blue.

The blue flowers started out light peach then I gave them a good spritzing with the Hydrangea Blue.  They absolutely shimmer in the light!  Gorgeous!!  The word "explore" was give a coat of gesso then I used Lindy's Stamp Gang Morning Glory Azure embossing powder.  The flowers were filled with little sea shell and Robin's Nest Pistachio Archival Seeds and Robin's Egg Glass Glitter.  Water Dew Drops were added to the blue foamy water for adding interest.

Here are a few close ups

The red flowers are highlighted with the Hydrangea Blue.

Thank you for stopping by.

I hope you will hop over to Frosted Designs and give their red, white, and blue challenge a go!
