We are so happy

Sharing a new layout design for Chattering Robin's.

A very happy Monday morning to you all!  Kathleen here to share a new layout I created with some inspirational papers from the Robin's Nest Store!  I have been waiting to scrap this picture of my sweet Eloise and myself sitting in the Texas Blue Bonnets for a couple of years now.  This gorgeous The Robin's Nest-Khaki Glitter cardstock, and it truly does glitter, was a perfect background to create my long awaited layout.

To start my design I began by tracing lightly around a doily then came back using a stencil and mask to create my design.  I repeated on the side of the paper.  I covered the paper in a thin coat of gel medium to prevent the paints from soaking into the paper.

I selected this neutral Khaki Glitter cardstock paper with tiny flecks of gold sprinkled all over the paper.  The paper has a more greenish tint rather than grey as seen in the store.   Simply divine!  It has a nice weight to it that hold up to any paints or mixed media you throw at it and believe me I threw a lot of mixed media at it!  lol!!  I cut out  several cards from the Wedding Cut Outs Cardstock and arranged them as shown below covering them with a thin coat of gesso.

Next I released my inner child and began to paint!  Such fun OMG!!  I started by applying green paint first then layering one blue after another down and around the masked area.  When you are satisfied with the effect come back and flick some white and black paints around the perimeter to accent your creation.  Then I came back and applied various stamps.  Then finishing up with these gorgeous coordinating -Dew Drops, Safari randomly place around the layout.

I clipped a couple of sections from gina's designs-Collage Border Spring and embossed the butterfly and bird in blue and painted the honey comb green.   I love to use dry wall tape for added texture as seen below.

Thank you for stopping by and having a peek.  I always enjoy your visits and encourage you to let your own creativity take flight.  Don't forget to check in and see what's happening with the Chattering Robin's here.  Also, pop into the Robin's Nest store to see what is new here.

"Hold my hand" Nani Ke Ola design team

Mixed Media layout

High School senior year is always a very special time in a teenager's life.  My daughter always wanted to go on a cruise.  So for her graduation present we took her on one then travel over to Busch Gardens in Florida.  It was a magical time!

7 Dot's Studio Cold country-Forgotten was the perfect choice to show off this fun filled photo of my daughter giving a gorilla statue a high five!

To create the background on this layout I used a piece of bubble wrap with a few drops of Lindy's Stamp Gang-Frenchy's Pink Pouf and dotted it around the right side of the paper.  I followed by flicking a paint brush with LSG-Silent night Silver then LSG- Ponderosa Pines Olive paints. The LSG-Ponderosa Pines Olive paint has this incredible gold sheen to it.  You will see it clearly in the close ups.

The film strip chipboard was sprayed with LSG-Silent Night Silver and the leaves and fronds with LSG-Ponderosa Pine Olive along with the cheese clothe.

The photo was double matted with black and purple card stock with a sticker from the elements sticker sheet.

With all the elements gather together I started layering them and finishing with some flowers and metal medallions.

A few close up.

Thank you for stopping by for a peek.  I hope you will stop by the store to see what is new or just to stock up on supplies.  Also check out those specials!

Boo (Robin's Nest DT)

I love the light fun childish side of Halloween, not the gory scary side.  I think my little Eloise looks adorable in her costume don't you.  Kathleen here to share a fun whimsical layout filled with incredible Halloween  Robin's Nest products.

I started out by gathering items that would fit my layout idea.  I would later come back with more items I found in my stash to complete the look.

I love the stripes on this paper(Robin's Nest-Orange Bones Cardstock) it matches Eloise's leggings!   This fun flair splash mask was applied around the paper to give flow and interest.  I came back with another mask, ledger style, and used only the top portion of it to create a frame for the layout.
Next I started spritz the masked areas with black and mustard paints.  Then I splashed the areas with orange water colors, black paint, and white gesso.  Stamped around the area with ghosts and witches and sayings.  Now to build.  The chipboard was sprayed with Art Anthology-Raider.  The broom and cauldron were embossed with Tim Holtz-Distress embossing powder, Black Soot and the cobwebs with Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder, Silver Moon Turquoise.

I used an old Graphic 45 packaging in the shape of a large tag as my template to cut a tag from Robin's Nest-Pumpkins Glitter Cardstock. Now to build my paper stack under the picture to frame it.  I torn a sheet of dictionary paper to add interest in the stack.  Next I tucked my cob webs around the page and began to add more color with mists and water colors.  Then on to some fun ghost and witch stamps.
Finally I added my embellishments and with wisps of cheese clothe tucked here and there.  Check out Robin's Nest-Bats Glitter Chipboard and Robin's Nest-Pumpkin Glitter Chipboard .  They sparkle and glitter in person.  There are quite a few in each package too!
The Robin's Nest Friendly little Friend is the perfect add on to any Halloween layout.  Just look how cute it is!

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope what you have seen here today has inspired you to let your own creativity take flight!  Please stop by The Robin's Nest Store to see what is new or just to stock up on your favorite items.
