Tando Creative "So happy together"

This is my final Tando Creative project for the month of November.  I had so much fun working on a painting technique that I used on the holly chipboard. This is a picture of my sister and I hamming it up with a life size nutcracker!

I first gathered up the items I would need to paint the chipboard.

For the first step I began by applying a coat of white enamel paint.  This is best for chipboard since it does not absorb into the chipboard as water colors do.  Let the enamel paint dry then apply a coat of shimmery camel glam by Tattered Angels.  You can apply it as thick or thin as you wish.

 Now it is time to add color.  I started with this green fluid chalk.  Then I mix the green with a dark brown for the veining in the holly.  Finally I applied a final coat of chalk and added my red glitter for the berries.  Don't forget to color the edges!

You can see the flecks from the camel glam showing through the chalk.  It shimmers in person.

I also used this technique on the snow flakes.

Maja 's November mood board is all about Christmas!  I used some non traditional Maja papers from their Life in the Country collection for this layout.  I think they work perfectly for that Christmas"y" feel!

Fall Foliage

Eloise meeting a scare crow for the first time.  She was rather intimidated by it!  We had a grand time on our mini vacation to Arkansas at the beginning of the turning of the leaves.  Such fun!

Now Papiery do and C'est Magnifique this page does not resemble the postage stamp left on you site.  I changed the back ground paper because the papers were screaming at me to do so.  They can get really bossy at times! lol  I did not know how to change it on your end.  I hope you enjoy what you see here today.  Welcome!

I found this new challenge blog Papiery do Scrapbooking and their challenge this month is about Autumn.  I did this layout for their challenge.

 I used Maja Walking in the forest paper collection for the accents. I used C'est Magnifique sketch for my outline.

 My idea for the Fall letters on top of the picture frame was to give it a barn shape appearance.

 I interspersed leaves with crumpled and inked squares for the falling leaves we see in fall.

Winter Joy

My daughter, Katie, loves horses even though she is allergic to them!  Thank goodness for antihistamines.  Let's Get Sketchy is hosting a challenge to grace the cover of their special Christmas edition. 

I wanted to make this very wintery magical layout for this challenge.  The sketch is below.

I used this picture as my inspiration.

I rolled the bottom of this paper to add dimension and whimsy to the page.  The I wet a paint brush and add a dab of gesso then flick it around the page to give it a snow fall effect.

To me the season is bright and cheery filled with candies and cookies.  So I just had to add them in.

Material used:  Papers; dark green stock paper for the base,
                                       We are memory makers Peppermint for the next layer.
                                         Graphic 45 Nutcracker Suite paper collection next.
                                        From my stash; candy canes, doilies and assorted chipboard pieces.

A Skype Christmas

Thank goodness for modern technology!  My daughter's husband is now in Afghanistan and through Skype they are able to keep in touch in a more personal manner.   Scrap Around the World is all about the rainbow this month. 

 So here is to a winter wonderland rainbow!  Our neighborhood has already been decking out their houses with lights and decorations.  I think I am getting in the holiday spirit.  How about you?

Thankful

I thought I would play around a bit with a new layout while the meat cooks in the oven.  Scrap our Stash challenge this month is to pull out all those 6x6 pads of paper and put them to use.  Thank you!!  I love this challenge because I have so many of these pads and never seem to use them.

 I had these wonder papers from Maja.  This collection is called "Walking through the Forest".  What I like about this collection is that it also has sheets with tags and stamps. 

 I have included six blue buttons.  123 Get Scrappy! has a tic tac toe board challenge where I used the pearl, circle and bird.

 Scrapping everyday Miracles challenge this month was to use the word thankful or a derivative thereof.

I am truly thankful for my scrapbooking community. I pray that each and everyone of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving day filled with family, friends, love and laughter.

French maid

Greetings and welcome!  Today I wanted to introduce a companion piece I did for Country life.  Country life showcased my daughter when she was a senior in high school.  This piece shows her having fun on a vacation to her brother's wedding in Ireland.  This is an eleven year time span.  Oh, how time flies!

S.W.A.T november challenge this month is to use feathers and this sketch from page maps
which I turned on its side.

 I really wanted to show more country flavor so I added a rooster, feathers and grapes.  Hopefully it gives the feel of a farm. This goes along with Pixels and Paper November challenge as your inspiration.

Even after 50

Change is beautiful even after 50!  Can this be true.  Oh, heavens I do hope so or I am doom!  lol...
Berry 71 blue offer up this challenge for November.  Their mood board is filled with spring time beauty.  But, what grabbed me was the goldfish jumping out of the bowl and aiming itself toward the empty bowl.  I rather see myself this way.  The first 50 years filled with wonderful memories and experiences is behind me and the next 50 if wide open.

 I had these fabulous 7 Dots papers and couldn't wait to put them to use.  One of their DT members showed how to use vellum with these flowers.  Awesome idea and it is the perfect goldfish color.  Don't you agree!

 I misted the papers with black and white paints and touched up the flowers with some gold flecked paint.  The cogs were inked and stained. 

 Awwww but you can't entered the second half of life without a bit of whimsy so here is a phone from my youth.  The bingo card is for my future...chuckles! ; )

Country Life

I just love fall!  Ounce Upon a Sketch challenge this month is "My happy place".  My happy place would be found in the country.  Wide open spaces, simply life, the beauty of the land....I could just sit all day drinking up the fresh air and sunshine.  Sun flowers are a perfect choice for this happy place since the follow the sun's direction all day long. 

 The base of my layout I used Autumn Country Basics paper from Maja.  I shadowed in around the border and flowers for more depth.  This was so much fun to do!

Inkido 's challenge this month is to use string, thread or yarn.  I tucked some up under the picture. The long threads reminded me of corn silk.

 I used corrugated cardboard chalked in brown for a little rustic feel.

 Graphic 45 French Country paper collection was a perfect choice for that country flavor.

This lovely flourish received a lot of distressing til the colors looked weathered and old world.
Creative Embellishments presented this beautiful photo as inspiration.
I am truly thankful for fall days and watching mother nature preparing for winter.
