This was definitely a year of love for my family.  My two lovely daughters wed and my son just became engaged over the Christmas holidays!  What a wonderful year it has been.  I wish all of you a Happy New Year!

Believe

I was so surprised when my son gave me this small teapot with cup and saucer.  I had always wanted one but never could bring myself to purchase it.  I love this special gift.  Love you Brendan!  I thought this would be the perfect LO for the December 2012 Recipe Challenge.

DREAM

Dream.  What every child does especially this time of year.  I just love Graphic 45 Nutcracker Suite paper collection. They are so perfect for this picture of my son taken 28 years ago.  I can't believe how quickly time flies when you have children. http://zeusandzoe.blogspot.com  I am happy to enter this layout in the January Zues and Zoe challenge.  Thanks for dropping by and taking a peek.  Hope your Christmas season is merry and bright
I am also entering this lO into the "scrap for help" January challenge.  I hope they enjoy how I used the string for the banner!

My little Sugar Plum

I chose Graphic 45 Nutcracker Suite collection for this LO.
I just had to bling out the sleigh with pearls after first painting on a layer of white stickles.
I incorporated a journal tag concealed behind the banners.

What a fun way to start the holidays!  Putting together this LO of my little girl just makes my heart sing.  I just entered this sweet darlin' in a scrapbook page challenge sponsored by Berry71Bleu.

A bit Squirrelly

A bit Squirrelly

This is my baby Eloise.  We found this photo op poster at a national park and couldn't resist putting her head in it!  She loves to chase squirrels.  I did a lot of paper layering with this lay out.  It provided the fall feel I was looking for.  The butterflies are fussy cut from a Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe paper I had.  I tore sections along the edges  and rolled it up to give it that worn feel you get at the end of the year.  I hope you enjoy looking at it!

I am entering this layout into http://scrapyourstory.blogspot.com/2013/03/challenge-2-animals.html

First flower
This was one of my first completed scrapbook pages when I started this hobby nearly 10 years ago. Back then I thought this was the cat's meow and had many compliments on it.   Today it just screamed at me for an update.   It's amazing what a few embellishments can do for a page. Scroll down to see its new do!

First Flower revisted

This page just wasn't finished talking to me when I first posted it.  It lay there on the viewing shelf and softly whispered "Pssssst, Pssssst,  I need a little somethin', somethin' more here".   And they are very seldom wrong!  If you scroll down you can see the subtle  differences, like  more presents at the bottom left hand corner and the green chip board flower that draws the eye down from the center of the page.  The purple cut out behind the nutcracker that seems to bring him to life and the candies up by the ballerina.  All these elements help to move the eye from one corner to the next with delightful anticipation.

Here comes the Bride

Butterfly Chase
It's hard to believe my beautiful children are all grown up.

I.C.U.  Such a tender moment at my daughter's wedding.  I just love my girls!

This is my first attempt at card making.  I hope you agree with me that this one is a keeper.  I tore the edges of the paper to give the feel of a wave crashing into the shore.

Hurry Christmas

Graphic 45 Nutcracker Suite collection has arrived!!  These are the perfect papers to capture the tales of Christmases past like this picture of me with my children when they were babes.  I had so much fun putting the different elements together to complete my story.

My Pretty

I just adore Graphic 45 papers.  This layout uses the Magic of Oz series.  The golden frame and stripped paper are from the Olde Curiosity Shoppe series.

A Bit About Myself

I have lived many places and traveled a good portion of the world.  When I met my husband I knew my travels would be for fun from then on.

We are a classic "Brady Bunch" without the housekeeper. The family has grown over 20 years from 3 girls and 3 boys to now include 3 son-in-laws, a daughter-in-law and 1 grandchild.  Gratefully and sadly we do not all live in the same house, nor even the same states.

Our current home is in Dallas Texas area, we love the neighborhood where kids can still roam safely as the neighbors know each other and keep an eye out for each other.

My Scrapbook hobby grew from my love of photography, travel and telling a story with a picture.  I found that you can add depth, information and whimsy with embellishments and minimal text.

I still enjoy looking at the old picture albums but I find family gravitates to the scrapbooks to see the stories of our lives.

A Scrap of why create this Blog?

One of the most enjoyable parts of creating scrapbooks is the joy of sharing the finish product.  Just posting a picture does not do justice to the full process.  Someone was kind enough to forward my name and some of my work to a contest looking for Designers.  A criteria is to have a blog so with this blog I plan to share my successes and disasters, as well as what works or doesn't.  Additionally I hope to generate interest and feedback to both share my hobby and grow with the process.
Why " Talking Papers"?  It is a tongue in cheek nod from my Hubby, as he hears my comment quite regularly that these papers are just not talking to me.
