FABULOUS-A NEW ROBIN'S NEST DT LAYOUT

Two papers that give you a lot of bang for your buck!  Kathleen here with another layout to share with you and I hope it inspires your own inner creativity.

The picture dictated the color scheme of this layout.  I selected the  Robin's Nest-Red Glitter Stars on Blue Specialty Paper and Robin's Nest-Classic Roses Cardstock.  The stars are so glittery in person.  I tore the Classic Roses paper down the the center and glued it to the stars paper leaving the center section loose.  I tore the second half to the rose paper again down the center and tucked one half behind the rose print revealing the striped print from the opposite side.  The last piece was torn on both sides and layered on top of the roses striped side up.  A piece of lace was also tucked under the striped section on top of the stars for an elegant look.

Now you could leave it simply so or you could up it a notch by adding Robin's Nest-Rusty Rose Ribbon down one side.
The picture was matted in blue and placed on top of a doily folded in half.
The color blue is pulled across the layout by adding Robin's Nest-Alpha Glitter Stickers.  Here I used a ruler and placed the letters on the edge to ensure even spacing.  Then simply tip your ruler and stick the top of the letters to your paper and gently press them down off the ruler.

Robin's Nest-Blue Flowers and  Robin's Nest-Rusty Rose Flowers
They come in package of three different sizes.  I like to wad up the flowers first to give them a bit of texture.  Then bunch a tiny hole in the center and adhere a brad to hold your flower together.

Finally after arranging the flowers and adding a few embellishments I top  it off by adding a wee bit of paint to add depth.

Thank you for joining me here today.  I hope you will stop by the Robin's Nest store and check out their awesome products.

Birds of a Feather

Birds of a Feather

I have the honor to be asked as a guest designer for off The Rails Scrapbooking!

I based my layout on their current sketch and moodboard.  I love the soft flat tone colors and was inspired by the music sheet, butterflies and quote to spread your wings.

Carte Postale-Helmar Design Team

Summer is in full swing and the earth is in its full glory.  Kathleen here with another layout I created using my favorite Helmar products!

I love the bright red on this train.  It reminds me of all the bold summer colors of blooming flowers and since this picture was taken in France I decided to use Graphic 45 French Country paper collection.  I started by using a mask(made with  Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue , baby power and white acrylic paint)  which I would later paint.

Next I used my favorite Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue  to apply cardboard to the back of the post card size pieces that would frame around my picture.  This builds up layers on your layout where you can tuck bits and pieces underneath.
My chipboard triangles were given gesso on one half then painted giving them a weathered look.  The clock hand chipboard pieces were embossed then touched with paint.  All of the chipboard received  a thins band of  Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue and then tucked and stacked around the picture. Bits of lace, drywall tape and cheese clothe were added for texture and interest.

A close up of the chipboard.  I also scattered a few gem stones and sequins and adhered them with Helmar Gemstone Glue .  I know they are they to stay!  Love these glues!
The chipboard, flowers and clock resin were all glued down with Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope I have inspired you today.  As always, when starting a new project make sure to reach your Helmar products!

ME 2014

Left over bits and pieces and yet you just can't seem to throw them away.  Kathleen here with you today to share a layout that was such fun to create.

The theme over at Chattering Robin's this month is things with wings.  Perfect for me since I can be a bit flighty!  lol

This whimsical layout was inspired by this matte/sheen animal print paper.  I start by gather up bits and pieces of left over papers that coordinated with my back ground paper.  There is so much movement, texture and depth of color in the Robin's Nest-Brown Animal Glitter Cardstock  which made it easy to begin my layout without added texture or paint!  Easy peasy.

Next I worked on my design and paper placement.  I have this wonderful balloon stamp and used it on some left over paper then cut them out to tuck into the design.  The wings were embossed with several different colors to blend into the papers.

I distressed the edges of the paper bits.  stacked them then glued them in place.  Then tucked some turquoise lace here and there. Now it is time for a bit of paint.  I would dab the paint with a baby wipe and later use this wipe behind the outer edges of the design  creating a lovely cloud space.

Here is a close up of the gear with Robin's Nest-Safari mini Dew Drops.
