Dream in the bluebonnets

It's that time of year again....Spring!  This means the bluebonnets are in full bloom here in Texas and time to whip out the cameras. You are not Texan unless you have at least one pic of someone you love in the bluebonnets.  Just be mindful of the snakes!  No lie!   There is a hill by the entrance to our community that is a solid bluebonnet field.  The street is virtually blocked by people lining up to take pictures there.  I was smart and found another field just up the street at another entrance.  Here is the result hope you like it.

Yes this is barbed wire on the bottom of the page.  We're in Texas barbed wire is the norm here it just adds to the charm of this fabulous state!
I used a Prima Marketing mask to give a the essence of floating clouds.  The fence is angled as if not well tended.  I cow probably rubbed up against it.  Opps!
The checkered ribbon and lace adds more country flavor.

Close ups of the ink and paint misting.

Destination Paradise

I've got two tickets to paradise.
Pack a bag and we'll leave tonight.

This song is stuck in my head since I started working on this card.  lol!  Card making is a world outside of my box.  I just had to give it a go though with Craft Hoarder's challenge #6 sketch with a twist.  The twist is what hooked me.  Use something old from your stash and something new.  I have sooooooo much paper from at least 10 years or better.  Cross my heart I do!!

So, I thought if I was going to challenge myself then I should step outside my comfort zone and do it right.  I call it "Destination Paradise".  The base paper is an old My Minds Eye paper followed by a shinny cardstock piece I found and then to complete this mis mash we have the ever classic Graphic 45.  The jute bow is new.  I just bought a spool of it.  Love the stuff.
The shells are also new but the micro beads are old.
Thanks for stopping by to see what the papers are saying today.  Oh and by the way thank all of you who have become my new followers.  I so appreciate it.  Only 3 more to go to reach my goal!!

Just Because

Just Because....you are so dear and sweet.  Spring is here and the weather is warm.  Children can't wait to play outside.

I just received these incredibly beautiful Inkido papers and couldn't wait to create with them!

This is my little pumpkin playing in the sand.  We lived in Germany back then during the Chernobyl disaster.  Parents were told to keep their children indoors.  All the sand boxes on the play grounds were clear and new sand put down.  Scary times.

I had this one last remnant of lace that I was saving for a special layout.  I had to cut it in half to fit the length of the page.  Then I started layering.
I
I gessoed the key tied this lovely blue cord around it and applied this awesome rub on.
I found this beautiful bright crocheted flower in my stash and layered it with blue flowers, a button and topped with a dot.
I used this clothing tag as part of the flower petals.

Thank you for stopping by to see what the papers are saying today.  I am so close to my goal of 50 followers.  I hope you will become a new friend.  I look forward to seeing you again.  til then have a very blessed day.

Vintage music box

We just returned from a fabulous trip to southern France a couple of weeks ago.  I love European children stores, so different from ours here.  I found these fun old time music rolls.  So hubby made this box and I decorated it for my sister's birthday gift this year.  I hope you like it.

I used these fabulous Graphic 45 Secret Garden stickers and rough sanded the edges then use brown ink on them.  I wanted the feel that this box came from years ago.

The top has an old seed box label.  I did not wish to cover up all the wood and left the corners exposed.
Thank you for stopping by to see what is happening here in our little ole work shoppe!  Happy Easter one and all.

Ireland

Ireland...really?!   This looks like the orient to me.  lol..but seriously Ireland has a long standing fascination with the Orient so it works for me.  We had visited the homeland several times over the years. And yes I still have family in County Clare.   This last time we went and stayed on the east coast, Dublin area.  Here I am at Powers Court.  If you have ever seen the sequel to "Gone with the Wind" called "Scarlet" this is were they filmed one of the scenes.

I wanted this layout to have a 3-D feel to it.  Giving the viewer a sense of walking through these magnificent gardens themselves.

Scrap Africa has a distress it with a difference challenge going on right now.  So, I liked one of their ideas to use a grater for distressing the edges of the papers.  This didn't work out so well for me.  I ended up using the thumb nail for a greater effect!
Thank you for stopping by and seeing what the papers are saying today.

Treasure the Moment

Have you ever seen the movie "RED"?  Well if you have this pictures reminds me of John Malkovich with his pink pig.  "I'm getting the pig!"  It looks like the pig got my son in this pic!  lol!!

I have just about crafted my way through this incredibly beautiful Blue Fern collection.  I have so enjoyed it.  Just look at this fabulous Blue Fern chipboard title piece.  So easy to work with.  I used gesso then inked and finished with this intense silks blue.

This is a handmade flower.  Simply gorgeous.   Wish I had made it but it was given to me and I thought it would be perfect for the Berry 71 Blue challenge this month.  I must add that I did make the leaves myself out of scrap paper and lacy ribbon.
A close up of this beautiful flower.
I just love adding butterflies to my layouts.  I have found a new love in masking!
Thank you for stopping by to see what the papers are saying today.  I hope to see you follow me on this blog.  I am so near my goal of 50!  Wishing each and everyone of you a very blessed Easter.  He is Risen!

I love you

This is a companion piece to "Love you forever".  I guess I should title it "I love you"!  lol  8-)
These pictures were taken during Columbus days in a town we lived in back when.  There were lots of fun activities set up for the kiddos.

This is a lot less fussy then a lot my layouts I know.  Hard to believe right?  I feel in love with this month's My Creative Sketches sketch.  This is my version of the sketch.

I ran out of pop dots and used these straws I had in my stash as a substitute.  They worked out really well!
Here I rolled this strip of paper to lift the heart at an angle.
My homemade flower.  Will my talents and creativity never cease!!!  lol!!
I simply love these dew drop from The Robin's Nest.  This is what I lifted from this month's layout over at XOXO Scrapbooking.  I love the way Tess used these dots to accent her piece.  I hope you stop by and check out this new challenge site.  It has been my pleasure and joy to have been part of this creative team.

Thanks for stopping by to see what the papers are saying today.  I hope you are enjoying a warm sunny spring day.  The rains come tomorrow for me.  Perfect for my flowers!

Scrap the Boys April Challenge.   Use flowers.  I am not afraid of using flowers on my son's layouts as is evident from my past layouts of him.  This one only has a singular bloom since I had entered the other one in other  challenges.

Creative Embelllishments  I used the following four item; straws, button, handmade flower, bling.
