Give Thanks {Robin's Nest DT}

New page design {Robin's Nest}

  Give Thanks

  I adore fall it is my favorite time of year.  The vibrant colors and crisp fall air, it's all so invigorating!  Well this month's theme at The Chattering Robin's is all about giving thanks.  I found this amazing picture of my sweet Eloise from our trip to New Mexico a few falls back.  Not only is she the sweet girl ever but she is also my service dog.  I am so very thankful to have her in my life.

Check out How to Create This "Give Thanks" Layout. by Kathleen White on Snapguide.

Helmar October

Easy layered layout {Helmar Design Team}

Elementary

October to me is a month of ghosts and goblins, witches on brooms and black cats at your feet oh my! It is also a time for creating wonderful memories from taking our children trick or treating.  My daughter and I were in London and visited 221 Baker Street home to Sherlock Holmes.   So I just had to create this easy layered layout using Helmar's Permanent Adhesive Runner.

For this layout I used Carta Bella- Trick or Treat paper collection.

Step one

Cut out a 7 1/2" square from the  center from the main 12x12 scrapbook paper(Ghosts) and set aside.
Cut an 8" square(Halloween Words) and edge in Dark Bark chalk ink.
Cut a 4 1/2" x 6 1/2 (Spooktacular) and edge in Dark Bark chalk ink.
Cut out a couple of 4"x 6" post cards(Halloween Carnival) and edge in Dark Bark ink.

With all of our main elements cut out we are ready for;

Step Two

Using Helmar's Permanent Adhesive Runner run a band around the outside of each of the layers and center them one on top of the other.

Step 3

Using Helmar Zapdots
peel off the squares and apply them around the frame and on the sticker(tip: Dust sticker with baby powder before applying dots.  This will prevent the sticker glue from adhering to your project where you don't want it to.) to give your project definition and a place to tuck your leaves under.

Our last and final step
Adhere your embellishments in place.

This is where I love using  Helmar Acid Free Glue  specifically formulated for memory albums.
It goes on white and dries clear.

 Thank you for stopping by and taking a peek.  I hope what you have seen inspires you to let your own creativity take flight.

Choose to shine {Nani Ke Ola DT}

"Choose to Shine"

This is an old photo of my sister and I down on the pier in Gulf Port, Ms.  It was a beautiful fall day and perfect weather for sail out on the water.  Those were the days before Hurricane Katrina which left so much of the Mississippi coast line devastated.

For this layout I used the very moody 7 Dots Studio-Cold Country-Lost Letters.

After creating the frame for my picture from 7 Dots Studio-Lost and Found-Vignette strips and finding where to place it on the layout I then use 7 Dots Studio-Destinations Line elements-stencil with modeling paste to create a bit of interest.  Using the blues from Lindy's Stamp Gang Autumn Leaves collection and from LSG Autumn Leaves-Side Kicks I spritz and splash my color background.

Products I used from the store

I used a piece of cheese clothe to create a rushing wave and filled it with shells, starfish and blue glass.  A piece of UmWow-Netting chipboard left in it natural state is tucked underneath the wave.  The word chippie embossed with blue embossing powder then roughed up with brown chalk.

A bit of random stamping and the project is complete!

I hope what you have seen today inspires you to let your own creativity take flight.  Please stop by the store to see what is new, what is on sale and stock up on items you need for your future creations!

Halloween hat with Helmar Glue

A Halloween Hat with Helmar Glues

I can't believe it's October already!  How time flies.  Speaking of flying I thought I would share with you this quick and easy Halloween hat centerpiece featuringHelmar Scrap Dots . We are now in the busiest months of the year but that shouldn't stop us from creating something fabulous in a short time.

Items needed for this project.

2 12x12 sheets of decorative paper ( I choose two from BoBunny's "Fright  Delight" collection.)
Something round to draw a circle with on your paper at least 10" to 11" in diameter.

Cut one full circle from your first 12x12 paper.  Cut a half circle of equal diameter from the second paper.
Taking the bottom of the semi circle fold it in half forming a conical shape.  Release, now run a line of adhesive with your  Helmar Quickfix Adhesive runner from the center to the end refold over lapping over the glue and stick it together.
I applied a beaded piece of lace down the seam of the cone and a braided ribbon around the brim of the hat with Helmar Craft Glue

Center your conical piece on the circle brim then with a thick ribbon of Helmar Scrap Dots
go around it.  Gently press a decorative piece of ribbon or lace on top of the Scrap Dots boarder and allow to set and dry for a few hours if not over night.
I also used Helmar Scrap Dots to secure the bat spray on top of the hat.

With the base of the project secured we can now decorate with our favorite items.  I used fall silk leaves, sequins, black flower etc using Helmar Craft Glue
to keep them in place.

I hope this Halloween project has inspired your to create your own haunting creation!  As always the perfect design starts with the best Helmar glue products.

C'est Magnifique

Greetings everyone, Kathleen here sharing with you my first projects as a Design Team member with C'est Magnifique!  I simply adore this months kit "Among the Birds".  The colors are vibrant and alive just perfect to scrap these pictures from my trip to visit my son and his family in Washington,DC.  We arrived just in time to see the famous cherry trees in bloom!  It was amazing to see.  Of course there is also nothing better than having quality time with my little grandson.

For this layout I used the main kit and flower add-on.
From my stash: water colors.

Here are a few close ups.

This kit is super awesome!  I used every bit of it.  I popped the dots from the tags and used them as accent pieces in the above layout.

For this layout I cut the center piece of houses from the main paper and fussy cut the houses to use in a later layout you saw for the sketch challenge.   I used the main kit and the flower add-on for this layout.  Can I say again how crazy I am over this kit!

Stash item: paint mists, stencil and modeling paste, drywall tape, doily .

I used a stencil and modeling paste down the center of the layout then used strips of drywall tape(you can find this in the hardware store super cheap and it will last forever!) for added texture.

My third layout uses the main kit only.

 Stash items: Paint mists, dictionary paper, purple netting.

 I have a few butterfly stamps and I decided to use one on the papers to create my own embellishments that coordinate perfectly with these papers.  Aren't they fantastic!

 I carefully peeled apart this gorgeous purple rose and refolded it into two more separate roses to create the bouquet.  The background was create from stencil and modeling paste then a few paints to add color and finally a stamp for design.

Above I fussy cut a tag edged it in brown and used an arrow sticker for detail plus a sticker underneath.  I use lots of torn paper and one from an old dictionary for my frame.

For my final layout I used the main kit plus the flower add-on.  I saw this incredible courtyard in from of a countryside house in Southern France.  So incredibly beautiful.

To show how awesome this kit is I even used the packaging from the flowers for layering around the picture plus the corrugated cardboard from the box it all comes in.  How much better can it get!!

I love the different colors the alpha stickers come in. They perfectly match all the papers in this kit.  Look closely at the large flower the petals have old timey picture on them.  Gorgeous!
 Just look at this precious fairy that comes in the kit.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a peek.  I can't wait to see what you create from this kit.  Happy crafting!  Please check out the store for this and past kits.
